The Age of Formation
This word has formed over quite some time and something I’ve sat on for a while before sharing publicly. I first shared it at a prophetic round table in 2025 but feel the relevance is only increasing and an important word for the times and seasons we are in.
I believe we have entered into the age of formation.
We have clearly seen the outworking of the information age. The rapid spread of technology, information and instant gratification not just in the world but the church and the people of God. Prizing information over formation. Prizing fast words over true fire.
But this is the time where the body, the bride and the church are being deeply formed. Formed in fire. Formed in His presence, formed through intercession, formed through partnership with Heaven. Spiritual formation is coming to the centre of discipleship and our faith walk. It’s a new age of formation. We must yield to the forming work that is taking place in our heart.
We are becoming the people who look more like Him. Those who are truly and genuinely being transformed into His image. So we can be as He was and do as He did in this world.
“Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world.” I John 4:17
Being formed to fulfill
This is not a passive formation but a partnership. It’s partnering with the spirit of the Lord to not just be formed and stay stagnant but to fulfill destiny. To step out of apathy and into calling.
Real formation brings movement. It brings the wind of the Spirit that moves us into a church of action. A body that is consistently moving.
“We have become his poetry, a re-created people that will fulfill the destiny he has given each of us, for we are joined to Jesus, the Anointed One. Even before we were born, God planned in advance our destiny and the good works we would do to fulfill it!” Ephesians 2:10
We are formed and are being formed for every good work He has prepared as His body.
Our formation is one the world desperately needs as our nation and the nations need us to step in to fulfill the work.
Re-formation
Time and time again I have heard, “this will bring a re-formation.” We long for reformation for the church and for society. We have prayed for it and we know that reformation must come. This forming will produce a reformation.
Reformation is a re-formation. I see God’s people returning to clay, as we consecrate, we become malleable. We move from mantle to mantle to fulfill His mandate. We do not stagnate but continually re-form. We are a malleable movement.
As we allow the forming work, nations are being re-formed. Destinies are being re-formed, the body of Christ is being re-formed. Policies are being re-formed, spheres re-formed.
The formation is leading to a Re-formation.
The shape is changing. The landscape is changing.
As we move forward, I see in the spirit hills becoming low and valleys raising up.
The work of reformation coming through formation.
With this re-formation, we will see restoration particularly within the family.
The ‘being’ prophets
There are seers, feelers and knowers but I feel like He is raising up a generation who don’t just feel or see the message but become it. Those who don’t just speak the word but become it. Not just seeing prophets but ‘being’ prophets. Those whose life has been set apart for this time.
He is creating a culture of becoming. The words we speak are being tested to become. There is glory that will be seen when we become. We are being formed deeply by who He is and we are becoming a sign and a wonder.
This requires wild abandon. The being prophets are those who behold and become. Like the prophets of old, our lives become the message. We will speak the word of the Lord and it will come with power and authority as we release it because it has been lived, not just spoken.
There is a level of consecration that we are required to walk in to see this. Not only are our words being tested, but our lives. And the fruits of them.
To remain, this generation will need to become one with the Word.
Formed to build
For years I have felt the Lord has me gleaning from Noah and Nehemiah. Building in the spirit requires we draw from the builders in the word who saw the work and walked it out. We are in the days of Noah and it is requiring we build of arks of safety and landing places of His presence.
Multiple dreams have confirmed this but one in particular, my 9 year old son dreamt He was Noah building the ark and as He was building He had to look for missing pieces that would finish the work. The missing pieces were found as He was bringing healing to the people around Him. This was both physical and soul healing. Restoring hearts and seeing signs.
As we build, we will see the signs. This is a sign of the times but also a time for the signs. We are formed for His work and formed for His power.
For years I have gleaned from Nehemiah. The repentance, intercession and tears that led to the assignment. The tenacity to keep building in spite of the taunts and his humility to lay aside his life to rebuild what was broken.
Keys for us as we draw from Noah and Nehemiah and build in this age of formation:
Families who build together. We are on mission in family. Building together. It is a community mission. Nehemiah assigned each family a portion of the wall.
Leaders of strength and humilty who don’t entertain the taunts and mocking of a godless generation but keep their hands to the plow. There is an increase of chatter, slander and demonic onslaught against the works of the Lord but it’s overcome through humility.
Arks of His glory - God is calling us to build places of purity that house His glory. Not just the church, but our homes, workplaces. They are arks that will withstand the winds and the waves coming
